How did you meet?
After a thankfully brief courtship on OKCupid, we had our first date on July 3, 2014, at Tavern on Jane.
Where did you have your wedding?
The Metropolitan Building in Long Island City. It was a gorgeous space, and we loved how it had an entire props floor available to pull from, filled with vintage furniture, artwork, mirrors, etc. We knew this would be an amazing opportunity to really make the space our own (while saving $$$$ on rentals in the process).
What was your favorite moment during your wedding?
Chuka’s family is from Nigeria, so about halfway through the wedding we (along with some family and friends) changed into traditional Nigerian attire and made our grand re-entrance. Everyone loves a good costume change, and for most of our guests, it was a very unique, unexpected moment.
What was your biggest wedding splurge?
Our photographer, Chellise, from Chellise Michael Photography, and she was worth every penny!
What was your budget?
Our entire wedding weekend (Friday Catholic ceremony and welcome party, Saturday wedding, and Sunday brunch) was around $45,000. NYC weddings are pricey!
