Named after the French military intervention into Mexico in the 1860s, and created by noted bartender at Boston’s Brick and Mortar bar, Misty Kalkofen, this well-balanced drink does away with the drudging sweetness of your quotidian Margarita, and adds delicious sour notes, herbal characteristics and distinction.
Ingredients
1 ounce silver tequila (recommended: younger, silver tequilas, such as Milagro, generally mix better in cocktails than aged versions)
1 ounce St. Germain
½ ounce Punt e Mes (a sweet Italian vermouth)
½ ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
Instructions
Combine all four ingredients in a shaker and “shake the hell out of them” for about 20 seconds. Strain into a coupe, or any stem glass and enjoy.
